PHYSICAL GEOLOGY

Physical Geology is an undergraduate course that introduces the Earth as a dynamic planet. It covers the origin, structure, and composition of the Earth and the physical processes shaping its interior and surface. Major topics include minerals, rocks, plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, weathering, erosion, groundwater, glaciers, and marine processes. The course develops a basic understanding of Earth materials, landforms, and geologic hazards, and highlights the role of geology in environmental management, resource exploration, sustainable development, and disaster risk reduction. By the end of the course, students will understand Earth processes, identify common minerals and rocks, and recognize the importance of geology in solving environmental and societal problems.
